27,000 Square Feet

Description: Adaptive Reuse of existing J.C. Penney Building. Jinright, Ryan, and Lynn's creative design solution for this 27,000 square foot facility involved removing the roof of a vacant 1950's department store building on historic Broad Street. In keeping with the scale of the existing streetscape the new design called for the addition of a third floor and an increased ceiling height for the existing second floor. The additional square footage allowed the building to meet the clients' needs and once again contribute to the vital downtown corridor. In its adaptation of an existing downtown structure for use as a new corporate facility, this project was instrumental in encouraging downtown revitalization.
